Thank You World Outreach

“Bèf san ke, Bondye pouse mouch pou li.”
“God shoos away the flies for the cow with no tail.”
God takes care of those who cannot help themselves.
Sherry with childWhen you live on the mission field, you quickly learn how to walk in faith.  All of us here practice our faith walk daily.  Recently, the Jesus Healing Center staff realized that our supply of birthing kits was down.  So they began to pray for the necessary items to make these birthing kits.
Birthing kitWe like to keep birthing kits on hand so that we can give one to each expectant mother in her eighth month.   We have found that simply giving these mothers sanitary birthing supplies helps to deliver healthier babies and keep the mothers free from infection.
Pregnany womenWe were down to a few birthing kits and the staff did not have the necessary items to make up complete kits.  Our stock of gauze and sponges needed to treat our burn patients was also getting low.  The staff started praying for these supplies.  Haitians rarely worry.  They have a saying, “Jezi konan,” which means “Jesus knows.”  The Haitian staff prays for their needs, then go about their daily tasks.  We have all learned to trust that God will meet our needs.

Just when the shelves were empty, we received a container filled with medical supplies from World Outreach.  Our prayers were answered as we unpacked basins, gauze, sponges, drapes and many other items.
Donated items
When the container was unloaded at the depot, Adeline and Berdine opened each box and sorted all of the items into different categories.  There were supplies for birthing kits and burn victims.  Once things were sorted, they were transported to the Jesus Healing Center to fill the shelves until needed.

When a pregnant mother is in her eighth month, and we know she will be delivering her baby at home in a mud hut on a dirt floor, we give her a birthing kit.
Giving women kitThe items in the birthing kits are all donated.  These kits often are the difference between life and death.  The birthing conditions are so unsanitary that the risk for infection is extremely high and these simple birthing kits help to make deliveries safer for the mother and baby.  Thank you World Outreach from all of us at Love A Child and all of these Haitian mothers!

We are so thankful for the gauze and sponges that we use to treat burn victims.  These are very helpful as we see a lot of burn incidents at the Jesus Healing Center.
Gauze photoHaitians cook over open charcoal fires and because it is so common, they become too relaxed and allow their children to play in harm’s way.
Cooking over fireThis little boy was playing near boiling water.  He bumped the table holding the water and it spilled all over him.  We used the donated gauze to clean his burns and prevent infection.
Burn victimAgain, we thank World Outreach for the much needed medical supplies that arrived just in time.  As we partner with organizations like World Outreach, we are able to do more on the mission field.  We give all the glory to Jesus!
