Little Ones in the Malnutrition Clinic...

February 25, 2010

A Haitian Creole Proverb...

"Timoun ki kriye nan kay ak sa ki kriye nan pòt se menm."

"The child who cries in the house and the one who cries at the door are the same."

These two darling babies are in our Malnutrition Clinic.

Here are some of the stories...

The older baby is 17 months and has severe malnutrition.

This little guy is just skin and bones.

His mother died during the earthquake;  and his father, totally bound by Voodoo, has not been able to take care of him.

Malnourished baby and his father

Dr. Mardy keeps a close check on all our babies...

Dr. Mardy

He will be at our Malnutrition Clinic until Dr. Mardy says he is well enough to leave.

We are so blessed to have such a caring Christian medical staff working at the Jesus Healing Center.

The other baby has no name...

After he was first born, only about a week old, his father went to sell in the market in Port au Prince...

His mother was sick and stayed home with the baby.  Then, this baby became ill with a fever, (January 12th) so the mother decided to send the baby to the pediatrician with her sister.  When the earthquake hit, the baby's father was killed on one side of Port au Prince and his mother was killed in another area, when the cement buildings collapsed on them both.

The baby's aunt realized she could not properly care for him and gave him to our Child Sponsorship Director, Tony.  He brought the baby to our Malnutrition Clinic. We will take him into our "family" and orphanage.  By the way, we are calling him "Noah!"

This little baby girl is about 17 months old, and extremely malnourished.  Look at her little legs...

This little darling has been with us a little while and is happy all the time...

Here is what I wanted to show you...

This is Toussaint...he was extremely malnourished when his mother brought him to our Center several months ago.  (Click here to read more about Toussaint.) After months of good care, he began to gain weight.  She brought him back today...just look at him now!  He is a miracle! (Below, before and now photo of Toussaint)

We are greatful to Feed My Starving Children who donate the special formula for babies with severe diarrhea.  After they have been on this special formula for a while, they can eat the specially designed food, which is also donated from Feed My Starving Children.  This really helps the children gain weight.

This food is donated by our friends at FMSC and Love A Child pays for the shipping, freight and transporation of these containers of food to come to Haiti.  If you would like to help sponsor a container of food for children and babies like this, and for many families all over Haiti, please click the red button below and donate now.

The Creole Proverb says that "the child who cries inside the house and the child who cries at the door are the same..."

http://www.loveachild.com/uploads/pagesfiles/3512.jpg

That means when we see a child suffering, or with malnutrition, or a child being mistreated, that child is the same "as our own."  That is the way the Lord sees it...

We are thankful for our Love A Child Partners who built the Jesus Healing Center and we are so thankful for Joyce Meyer Ministries - Hand of Hope, who sponsors the entire costs associated with running  the Jesus Healing Center and its many outreaches...

Without the help of Joyce Meyer Ministries - Hand of Hope, it would not be possible for us to bring this "first class" Clinic to the poor or to have this wonderful Malnutrition Program.

When we see little lives changed, we feel that we are "blessed indeed!"

Thank you so much for reading this journal and for praying for the children of Haiti!

The needs are so great here.  Please pray about how you can help the children of Haiti.  You can make a difference today in the life of a child in Haiti.  If you would like to make a donation right now, please click on the red button below.
