Partnering with Vitamin Angels

November 12-15, 2013

A Creole Proverb…
“Moun pa se dra.”

”A protector is like a cloak.”

Love A Child provides millions of meals to hungry children throughout Haiti.  We partner with Feed My Starving Children to get containers filled with nutritious meals to Haiti every month so that poor Haitian children can eat every day.  Feed My Starving Children donates the food to Love A Child and our partners pay the costs associated with getting the food all the way to Haiti and out to the poor villages.

9077-1Providing nutritious meals to Haiti is just one of the ways we are helping to fight malnutrition and save little lives throughout the country.

During recent years, Vitamin Angels has partnered with Love A Child to get vitamin supplements out to the very poor villages all over Haiti.  Vitamin Angels reduces child mortality worldwide by connecting essential nutrients with infants and children under five. Essential nutrients enable young immune systems to fight infectious diseases, helping children attain good health and the opportunity to lead meaningful and productive lives.

This organization gets a variety of donated vitamins to Love A Child and we distribute the vitamins to the children in our schools and to the children of very poor villages.  Love A Child and Vitamin Angels are partnering to meet the needs of many Haitian children.

Recently, we received a donation of Albendazole and Vitamin A, which are both beneficial to little Haitian children.  Albendazole helps us treat mountain children for parasites in their intestinal tract.  Vitamin A helps to decrease the mortality rates in children under five and it helps to prevent blindness.  Over 1/3 of the developing world’s children under the age of five are deficient in Vitamin A and their immune systems need help.
As soon as the Albendazole and Vitamin A arrived in Fond Parisien, we started the deworming programs in our 13 schools. The first stop on the list was our Fond Parisien School.

Our Jesus Healing Center nurses worked together to see that all 650 children were treated.

Not all of the children wanted to participate, so we had to make it fun.

School children getting albendazoleThe girls were brave and stepped forward first while the boys watched before taking a turn.

Sandra Main, a Love A Child volunteer, and Adline, a Love A Child employee, counted out the Albendazole for all 13 schools. That was THOUSANDS of pills.

Remote school & kidsThe day we pulled into the Clinic Eau de Viv Pharmacy, we discovered from their coordinator Fenne that they were in great need of Albendazole.  He needed more for the clinic as well as in the Cholera Treatment Center.  Love A Child partners to help with the Cholera Treatment Center.  He couldn’t say thank you enough.

Patrick & medsOnce again we want to give a huge thank you to Vitamin Angels for making all of this possible for so many Haitian children.  We give God the glory for making sure these children receive the necessary treatment for healthy living.
