A Haitian Creole Proverb:
“Bondye fe san di.”
“God acts and doesn’t talk.”
A wonderful group of volunteers from America are in Haiti with me. We have been going to the regions beyond and providing medical care to hundreds of poor Haitians.
Our first stop earlier this week was a brand new village called Z’Abriko. The first thing we did was set up our clinic area in the middle of nowhere. That involves putting the frames up to hold our medicine bags. Here we see Julie LaPorta and Heather Lacefield hanging the “shoe bags” filled with life-saving medicines. We have learned over the years that shoe bags are a great way to hold the medicine and it allows our pharmacy staff to find the needed medication quickly and easily. Speed is important when treating hundreds of patients in one day!
Soon, the clinic was set up and we were ready to open the doors and care for the poor.
Here is Shelly Perkins in our wound care area. She is treating this little boy’s head.
The wound care area was very busy treating lots of skin issues. We treated about 51 patients in Z’Abriko.
Kaeli Fletcher fell in love with some of our tiniest patients.
Daniella and Cassandra worked all day in the pharmacy area. They gave out 3,988 prescriptions.
Our Mobile Medical Clinic in Z’Abriko was a huge success. Hundreds of Haitians were treated for their physical ailments. We treated many malnourished children and have a plan to help improve their health. The village people were all very receptive to the Gospel. During the clinic, the Spirit of the Lord came down and we believe about 35 people gave their hearts to Christ. Your gifts have helped so many people. In just two days, we saw 780 patients, 129 received eye glasses, 51 were treated in our wound care unit, and we gave out 3,988 prescriptions.
It was a great clinic! We thank our sponsors for their generous donations that allowed us to go to the regions beyond to provide medical care for the poorest of the poor. Thank you partners for sponsoring a Mobile Medical Clinic with a gift of $1,000. Thank you partners for sponsoring worm medicine with a gift of $52 that deworms 300 children twice a year. Thank you partners for sponsoring a “Family Pack” of medicine with a gift of $20. We also thank all those who gave the Widow’s Mite. If you would like to help provide medical care in Haiti, please call our office at 239-210-6107 to find out how you can help.
