Second Anniversary of Gwo Maché Mirak — Celebrates Sustainability
This is one of our Sustainability Projects, helping Haitians to help themselves! What a blessing the marketplace has been for jobs and improving the entire community. Having jobs and the ability to feed their families will restore dignity among the poor Haitian people. Also, utilizing new skills and earning a livelihood will allow every person here to become part of the solution toward ending poverty in this region.
In December, we marked the Second Anniversary of our Sustainability Project, Gwo Maché Mirak (Grand Miracle Market). The marketplace was built to provide jobs as well as a clean, spacious environment for Haitians to sell their goods to the surrounding communities.
Vendors came from all around Haiti to attend the celebration and to sell their products.
Many artists displayed their crafts and artwork.
There were also food vendors and visitors had many choices of the delicious foods of Haiti. Here a Haitian family makes Pâte Brisée, which are meat-packed pastries.
Pâte Brisée is a Haitian dish that is a pastry filled with a béchamel sauce mixed with any of these meats; sausages, sardines, chunk fish, ham, ground meat or poultry. What a delightful treat!
A young Haitian woman prepares hot dogs on a makeshift grill.
There were many yummy choices of food throughout the marketplace.
This was a wonderful opportunity to see what this area of Haiti has to offer. There were bands playing music, lots of singing, dancing, and just having fun!
School children came from all over! This school group came with David George’s team of visiting volunteers and our young missionary, Kaeli Fletcher.
The marketplace manager Nelio, Frank and all their staff are doing a great job! The marketplace will be making a profit very soon.
All the profits will go back into the local area toward digging new wells, scholarships and to bless poor families.
As the marketplace grows into the future it will bring more jobs to the area. Jobs bring “hope” and “hope gives life!”
The marketplace has become an essential part of the fabric of the Fond Parisien community, and Gwo Maché Mirak now has its own soccer team!
Gwo Maché Mirak (Grand Miracle Market) is a gift, which will always keep on giving! Thank you Pastor Jentezen Franklin and your Kingdom Connection Partners for putting $1,000,000 into the marketplace! We thank the Lord for the opportunity to be alive to see all these people so happy! Love is something you do.
