2017 Year in Review – Part Two

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

— Acts 1.8

The need to feed the poorest of the poor in Haiti is one of our heaviest burdens we carry in our hearts. Haitians cannot afford to feed their families and babies. There are no jobs for the masses of people, who can work, and in the rural areas in which we serve, Haitians are facing a food crisis, and the need to feed so many increases every year.

Distribution Outreach

Food Distribution

Each month we receive 7-8 containers of food from Feed My Starving Children. This food is very nourishing and changes the lives of children who are hungry and starving. We share our food with over 80 other organizations, half of those are orphanages, and many are schools or clinics. It costs us $10,000 for each 40-foot shipping container packed with 272,000 meals for hungry children. This food is more valuable than gold and saves thousands of lives each month. Love A Child must have the container of food in the States transported to Miami, and then put on a boat bound for Haiti, and then when it hits the port, we must pay fees to get it released from customs! Most of the costs occur here, but it is well worth it to share our food with others! Thank you, Jentezen Franklin, for our Kingdom Connection Food Distribution Center and sponsoring the cost of a full container of food each month.

We share our food with over 80 other organizations.

Thank you Feed My Starving Children for donating the nutritious Manna Packs, and thank you, partners, for sponsoring the transportation of all these containers of food each month. We want to thank Joyce Meyer MinistriesHand of Hope who also sponsors one container of food each month, which contains 272,000 meals. God bless Joyce Meyer Ministries — Hand of Hope.

Here are a few of the children that are tortured by malnutrition. The symptoms are dry skin, a bloated belly, and dry, straw-like red hair. Hunger is Haiti’s biggest enemy of these innocent children. Try going one day without any food at all, and you will feel just some of what these children experience every single day of their lives. Someone once said, “Let our hearts be broken with the things that break the heart of God…” God bless all our amazing partners, who have sacrificed again and again to feed these hungry children.

We were so happy to have a visit from Feed My Starving Children last year! We have been partnering together for 17 years. Last year, with their help and yours, we distributed more than 24.7 million meals! This year, we are believing the Lord to distribute 25,000,000 meals! Mark Crea and his team visited the Love A Child Kingdom Connection Food Distribution Center, our Love A Child Children’s Home and school, Miracle Village, and Gwo Maché Mirak.

Food distribution in a third world country is a very complicated process. For many years, we have distributed food to starving people in the remote areas of Haiti. Each month, we distribute food to villages, missionaries, orphanages, schools, widows, and even those living in the garbage dumps. Feeding the poor in Haiti takes all of us working together. We thank our Love A Child partners who have contributed to feeding the poor for years. Look at these precious children! You all make a big difference in the lives of the poor people of Haiti. Thank you!

Each month we distribute food to villages, missionaries, orphanages, schools, widows, and even those living in the garbage dumps.

We distributed food to many villages this past year. One of the places we visited, was the village of Nangad, one of Haiti’s poorest areas. It looks like a desert. The ground is dry and cracked; there are no trees, no crops grow, no jobs and no hope. We began helping some families in this area, and now, each month, the feeding program here is growing. Special thanks to Joseph and Peter, who work for Love A Child, they did a great job on this Food Distribution!!! We now have to put the food into sacks because so many thieves are stealing the food from the poor.

All the children in our 18 Love A Child schools receive a hot meal every day—that’s food for more than 8,500 children daily! For many of our students, it’s the only meal they will eat that day. Beyond filling their bellies, these nutritious meals fuel their developing minds and bodies giving them a chance to reach their full potential.

All the children in our 18 Love A Child schools also receive a hot meal every day.

Creole Bible Distribution

One of the most significant outreaches we can do for the poor here in Haiti is our Creole Bible Distribution. Poor people, who have never owned a Bible, treasure this Bible, like gold! They love the Word of God! We pray that God will provide more Creole Bibles for the people of Haiti!

What a blessing the Word of God is! Sometimes, many Christians don’t understand what a great thing the “Word of God” can be! For Haitians, they could never save up the money to buy a Bible because all their money is spent on food, or on trying to pay for their children’s education. So, when a team from Life Changers International Church in Chicago, Illinois came to Haiti, they distributed Bibles to those at our Jesus Healing Center. Life Changers International Church also sponsored these Creole Bibles.

Visiting Mission Teams

We were so blessed this past year as several Mission Teams from the States came to Haiti. Some came to help in our Mobile Medical Clinics, in a special eye clinic, in a dental clinic, in our Food and Bible Distributions, and in our Jesus Healing Center. They all love the Haitian people and bring so much to the children during their visits.

Tim R. Randolph, PhD, MLS and his Mission Team

We were so happy to have Tim R. Randolph, PhD, MLS from St. Louis University and his students here with us. Tim founded Randolph World Ministries, Inc. and was asked to come to our clinic to solve some testing issues in the lab and provide an eye clinic for the poor. This was Tim’s fifth visit to Love A Child’s Jesus Healing Center with a team. Our lab was evaluated and found to be in excellent condition, but Tim and his team made tremendous improvements!

They trained our staff on the donated QBC instrument, which tests blood counts. The eye clinic saw 500 patients and distributed 500 pairs of glasses. God bless Tim’s partners who helped us so much.

Click Family Foundation

What a great week we had with Debbie Click, Matthew, and Ryan. The Click Family Foundation paid for and installed a new up-to-date wireless Internet system that covers our entire Love A Child village! They worked very hard and got the job done!! We are no longer on Digicel; we now have Natcom fiber optics. It is very fast and efficient. Thank you, Debbie, Matthew, and Ryan.

Feed My Starving Children Team

We welcomed the Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) Team into Haiti. Mark Crea, the President of FMSC, and his team helped us with our feeding programs. FMSC is the organization that donates food to us, and our Love A Child Partners sponsor this food to come all the way from the States to Haiti. This is a wonderful partnership… we all work together to feed hungry children!

Life Changer Church Team

“A day of Salvation!” Gregory Dickow’s Life Changers International Church in Chicago, Illinois distributed Bibles and went “door to door” praying for many people for salvation, for sickness, and for problems. They then made their way through the Gwo Maché Mirak praying for everyone they saw. Many lives were touched, and some made decisions for Jesus! They also visited two other villages doing Bible distributions. This was a great team!!

We welcomed the Dream Center team from New York City. They helped with evangelizing, church services, hut-to-hut ministry and prayer in a Voodoo village, Bible distribution, warehouse work, feeding programs, and spending time with the orphan children. They have been with us before, and they are a “sweet, sweet team!” God bless you, Dream Center team!

We want to thank all our partners and sponsors who have sacrificed so much to give to the poor Haitian people. The people of Haiti are so grateful for the care you continue to give to help them help themselves, and bring a better future for their children. If you would like to help the children of Haiti and wish to speak directly to one of our staff members, please call 239-210-6107 or email us at info@lachaiti.org.
