2017 in Review – Part One

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

— James 1:17

We had a wonderful year of blessings. With the support of all of you, our partners and sponsors, we were able to help the children of Haiti and their families. Here are some of the highlights of 2017.

Medical Outreach

Mobile Medical Clinics

We started the year conducting a Mobile Medical Clinic in the hard-hit “disaster area” in Nippes, Haiti. This area had very little help, and there were still people in need of medical care and food. The hurricane that hit Haiti with such great force left people starving, animals perished, crops destroyed, and many wounded victims from flying debris. These poor people have no money to buy anything for shelter or food, and no money for a doctor.

We wish to thank Alcon for their donation of eye drops for our Mobile Medical Clinics. This Mobile Medical Clinic was held in southern Haiti, where people were still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Matthew. We saw many patients who desperately needed these eye drops. Thank you Alcon, and thank you, Dr. Pat, for making this happen.

A Mobile Medical Clinic is one of the best ways to win people to the Lord, and care for them at the same time. A witch doctor or Voodoo people would never go to church, but we can bring “the church” to them. When someone is sick, they don’t care what church you go to; they just need medical help and love. We can give them the love they need. Many poor Christians in these remote villages are sick and have no money for transportation to come to our Jesus Healing Center. We can take “your hands and feet” like the Good Samaritan and go to these seemingly forgotten people with “hands-on care.” This year we held Mobile Medical Clinics in several villages, including Letant, Lastik, Cotin and a new village that has a powerful Voodoo presence, Chambrun.

We conducted two Mobile Medical Clinics, one in the village of Chambrun, and the other in the village of Cotin. We were thrilled to have beautiful reading glasses donated by MAP International. So many poor people in Haiti do not have reading glasses! Thank you, MAP International! We made it through the deep mud and water! If it weren’t for our 6-wheel drive vehicles pulling some of our 4-wheel drive vehicles, we would never have made it! Hundreds of children and families came to this Mobile Medical Clinic for help. We are thankful for our volunteer team and wonderful Haitian staff and doctors. We are also thankful for those who helped sponsor this Mobile Medical Clinic. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Joyce Meyer Ministries — Hand of Hope

Mobile Medical Clinics

We are so grateful to Joyce Meyer MinistriesHand of Hope for sending a couple of mission teams to Haiti as they held Mobile Medical Clinics at La Roche and La Tremblay this year.

The Hand of Hope team from Joyce Meyer Ministries treated hundreds of people in La Roche, where we have a Love A Child Church. There were two severe tooth abscesses; one even had “lock-jaw,” which the dentist was able to massage and completely adjust it. There were also several severe infections. When missionaries travel with “medical help,” they become “the hands and feet of Jesus.” This group was such a sweet team!

Jesus Healing Center

“Bursting at the Seams!!!” Look at the long lines outside the gate of the Jesus Healing Center! You can see what the Security Guards have to do each morning when they open the gate!!! This is a long line of “pregnant mothers.” There is another long line of “aged patients.” And, we have two other lines, which include new patients and returning patients. We wish to thank Joyce Meyer Ministries — Hand of Hope for sponsoring our Jesus Healing Center each month!!

Our Jesus Healing Center continues to grow and meet the demands of so many of the poor coming from the mountains of Peyi Pouri, from Fond Parisien, and even as far away as Port-au-Prince. They know that we have the best of care, and their lab work and medications will be included. If they need further assistance, we have a Benevolence Fund to help with their other medical needs.

The best of care, and with lab work and medications included.

Malnutrition Center

Our Malnutrition Center works to prevent babies from dying of severe malnutrition. Mothers bring their babies, who are referred to our Malnutrition Center, and they receive check-ups and instruction on what foods they can give for little money. Babies are weighed each week and measured for growth. Some need to come for more than a year. Mothers leave with bags of food on their heads for their babies.

This clinic is rated as one of the best in Haiti. This includes paying the doctors and nurses, the lab technicians, the accounting department, the security guards, the cooks and much more. That’s 40 employees in all! Also, there is the cost of the medicines and medical supplies and the upkeep of the clinic! We are very, very thankful to Joyce Meyer Ministries – Hand of Hope for sponsoring the monthly operating budget to run the Jesus Healing Center. Surprise Delivery! These two babies couldn’t wait and were born at the Jesus Healing Center. We are praying for the funds to build a Birthing Center next to the Jesus Healing Center, soon!

Thank you to Hand of Hope, for the beautiful new van that was donated this year! This van not only helps us transport patients for treatments, (such as HIV, physical therapy, etc.) but also helps us transport some of our staff, who live a long way from the clinic. Thank you! This is another miracle from God!

We want to thank Debbie Click, who came to Haiti on several visits this year. She volunteered with our Mobile Medical Clinics. She also worked at the Jesus Healing Center to set up our new Internet system, plus she went over the flow of medicines. Debbie has been such a blessing to Love A Child, and we are so grateful!
