Word from the Mission Field

“Turn your face to the wall…”

Hezekiah was a great king in the Bible. He reigned over Judah. He was a God-fearing king who had torn down all of the idols in the kingdom from those kings who had come before him. He “cleaned house,” and got rid of the Baal worshippers! You would have thought the Lord would have said, “I have given you long life.” But instead, Hezekiah became very ill to the point of death. God sent his prophet Isaiah to Hezekiah, with this message… “Set your house in order because you shall die and not live.”

The Bible says, “He turned his face to the wall and prayed unto the Lord…” (2 Kings 20:1,2)  At that moment, Hezekiah had “desperate faith.” He had nowhere to go, no Christian TV to listen to, no iPods, no internet, no Bible, no books, nothing. He only had faith in an “invisible God.” He didn’t know what to do, so he turned his face to the wall, in desperate faith, and prayed! He sent his petition to the throne of God! He prayed and wept and touched the throne of God.

Just as Isaiah the prophet was getting ready to leave the middle court of the palace, God told him to turn around and give Hezekiah this message… “I have heard thy prayer; I have seen thy tears. Behold, I will heal thee…and I will add unto thy years fifteen years, and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria!”

Today, if you need a miracle, do something desperate with your faith. Touch the throne of God, no matter if you have to lay on the floor, go into your prayer closet, or turn your face to the wall. God is a “prayer-answering God!” Have a great day! Sherry
