This is the village of “Old Letant” by the lake; these mud huts are called “kay pays!” The people make a living “trying to catch fish” to sell, but when the wind is blowing, they cannot fish and have no food. (Incidentally, these are not big fish, but tiny little fish that you would probably throw away!)
Some families look for sticks to sell, and others try to make charcoal. Each day they wake up, they have one thing, and one thing only on their mind… “How will I feed my children today?” And each child wonders, “Will I have a little to eat today?” They are just “existing.” They are the poor the Bible talks about. Are they thankful? Just look at their faces!
Are you blessed when you give to the poor? Yes, indeed! Thank you, Feed My Starving Children, and thank you, partners, who make it possible for this food to come to these poor children and their families!!
