When we first saw Yonel, we were deep in the mountains of Haiti conducting a Mobile Clinic. Along came an elderly grandma with a malnourished little boy with a swollen stomach and a little baby girl who was barely breathing! When we saw the baby girl, she was too near death and we were too far from a clinic. But we thought we could save the little boy. You could see all of his chest bones, and he had the face of an old man. We decided to take him back to our orphanage and get him medical help. En route down the mountain, we all stopped to eat a mango because we were so hungry… Yonel ate 8 mangos without stopping!!! And, he continued to get stronger and gain weight! He has finished High School and is now on our “painting team!” He got married two years ago, and any day now, “he is going to be a daddy!” Yonel is a sweet, kind, and honest young man, AND a devout Christian! He is faithful in “small things!” God bless all of you who are the parents and grandparents of all these children!
Love and Prayers… Sherry
