Many children from the mountains of Haiti do not usually get food during school time. They leave their mud huts early in the morning having maybe a half a cup of coffee with sugar. They then travel several hours to school, sit there all day, often falling asleep about 10:00 AM. They are then expected to walk back up the mountains when they are finished with classes. Feeding hungry children at school and sending “food home with them” is the best way to ensure that they can learn. A Creole Proverb says, “An Empty Sack Cannot Stand,” it needs food! God bless you, Sherry
