Love a Child - Agriculture Training Center - Improving Haitian Soil

Update from ATC: 1-31-16 10:00 AM

Haiti is one of the most difficult places in the world to grow food. The people live on marginal lands in climates that are often very challenging when raising crops. The average Haitian subsistence farmer has very little land and it is usually rocky, on mountainsides, and acidic. One of the challenges the people face is improving the soil with what little resources they may have. At the Agriculture Training Center (ATC) this week, Wilner, our head trainer, is teaching farmers how to raise worms to turn manure and other waste products into viable fertilizer to improve their soils. The fertilizer is then mixed with bio-char made from agricultural waste, which helps neutralize the acidic soil. With some of these simple techniques, Haitian farmers are improving their livelihoods and have extra income to build God’s church. Your sacrifices to support programs like the ATC are furthering God’s Kingdom. Thank you from all of us at Love A Child! David Balsbaugh — Director of Agricultural Training Center
