Getting ready for Christmas in Haiti: 12-4-18 3:55 PM

The most exciting thing about Christmas in Haiti is having a “Children’s Party” in a poor neighborhood, sharing Jesus, and then giving the poorest of the poor a hot meal and a wonderful gift. For children like these, some of whom live in the garbage dump and other areas, a doll, a toy truck, or a soccer ball would give them the knowledge that “someone, somewhere” loves them. My family was very poor when I was a child, but I remember one Christmas when we had nothing, and my father was out of work. On Christmas Eve, the pastor of our tiny country church had gathered other families together to give them a “Christmas.” They brought food, toys, clothing, and plenty of love to five “Barner children,” who would have had nothing. It was a wonderful act of love, to shower upon my father, who was not a Christian. There is no such thing as “a small act of love.” We can’t wait to share things with the poorest of the poor children here in Haiti. Sherry
