Disaster Recovery & Relief Efforts in Haiti
Bringing hope, light, and God’s love to disaster recovery efforts in Haiti requires that the Love A Child team and our volunteers work alongside Haitian families and communities to achieve results.
Bobby and Sherry Burnette, and the Love A Child staff and volunteers play an instrumental role in coordinating relief efforts for crisis events in Haiti, including:
- The devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake in January 2010. While the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 left thousands of families without homes, Love A Child followed God’s calling to support the Haitian people to rebuild their lives and reimagine their futures at Miracle Village.
- Severe droughts affecting Haiti since 2015. Providing Manna Pack food from Feed My Starving Children to our growing network of 90+ other ministry organizations, we serve Haiti’s poorest and most vulnerable populations.
- Hurricane Matthew in August 2016. Focusing on the worst hit areas in southwestern Haiti that took the brunt of the storm, we brought food, water, and clothing to aid Hurricane Matthew victims. We also conducted a Mobile Medical Clinic with a wonderful medical mission’s team. And, finally, we sent supplies like tin, nails, lumber, cement, and much more to rebuild homes.
- Powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake in August 2021. Recorded as the “Deadliest Natural Disaster of 2021”, this earthquake devastated Haiti’s southernmost peninsula. Love A Child immediately went to work delivering disaster relief items to those in need. While handing out tents to provide shelter, the Lord laid it upon our hearts to take it a step further and build many Haitians earthquake proof Gabion Houses.
To ensure our humanitarian aid distribution system operates efficiently, we coordinate our efforts through proactive measures and key partnerships with organizations like Feed My Starving Children and MAP International. Our 30,000 square foot Kingdom Connection Distribution Center is stocked with disaster recovery kits, along with nutrient-rich food supplies that are distributed through our network of ministry partners throughout Haiti.
With premium disaster recovery in mind and the Lord on our side, Love A Child’s goal is to remain fully operational in the event of a disaster in Haiti. There’s an indescribable connection being forged in working together for the poor; we experience the joy of serving while restoring hope to those in need.
Help provide emergency aid and long-term solutions to Haiti’s poor today.
