“Power Over the Devil!”

Not many churches in the States will be preaching this message… it is not popular today. Why? Most Christians do not even believe that there are evil spirits all around us, but if you ever lived in Haiti, it would change your way of thinking and praying. Haiti is 90% Catholic, but the Catholicism in Haiti is different because it has been mixed with Voodoo since the slaves were brought in from Africa. Haitians use to tell us stories about “zombies” and “evil spirits.” Anyone could go to the witch doctor and put Voodoo on someone, especially if they got fired from a job or made someone angry.

Since living here in Haiti for 27 years, we have seen into a dark world which we never realized existed. If we fire someone, they will automatically go to a witch doctor and try to put a spell on us. If they are jealous, they try to put a Voodoo spell on us. We have had “fetishes” and even small hand-made coffins, with all kinds of stuff, put in our Love A Child driveway. (Of course, we would pick it up and toss it into the ditch with everyone staring with “wide eyes!”) There comes a time when we must “take the devil by the throat,” and use the Word of God on him! Jesus said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

We usually do not share the things that happen to us in Haiti, or the “powers of hell” that come against us as we try to help the poor… but we fight battles every day. Today, you may be going through some “strange things” and it seems like “all the powers of hell” have come against you. You may not understand it, but there are demonic spirits sent to attack you, your family, your job, your health. These are “evil spirits.” You must open the Word, read these scriptures, rebuke the devil and bind him! God has given us “power over the devil,” and fear has no place in your life! Remember, “all of Heaven is on your side!!”
