Lionel is a very different young boy. He is 13 and is in 6th grade. He has emotional problems that stem from his evil father. About five years ago, we were called to the clinic to see this young boy who had been tortured by his father. For some reason, his father had gotten angry at him and held his hand in boiling water. He nearly lost his hand and had to go through lots of treatments for his burns. One of the doctors, not ours, had treated him but did not properly wrap his fingers, and they grew together. He has to have a surgery to separate them, but the hospital is in a “war zone” in Haiti–near an area called “Martissant.”
When I took him to that hospital for evaluation, we passed two dead bodies in the street in the middle of piles of garbage!
Lionel is in 6th grade and always first in his class. He loves soccer and does his chores happily! I hope and pray he will be able to get to the hospital for his surgery. Sherry
