Finally Made it Back to Truttier to Feed the Poor!

This morning, we got up at 3:00 a.m. to prepare to go to Truttier, the garbage dump, near Cité Soleil. This is a “very, very dangerous area of Haiti, inhabited by many gangs, with large guns.”

We had been unable to do a distribution here due to the violence. When we asked the police for help a few days ago they refused to come and protect us, because they said, “they couldn’t be responsible for our safety.”

We had sent several of our employees there before making a decision to bring food. We had to repair the “broken down fence,” and we had to send in a team to take new “Food Cards,” to the mothers (330 families). Still, our Haitian director was afraid to let us go, especially after the police refused to help us. They said there were “too many guns in the area.”

But yesterday, we felt the strongest “urge” of the Holy Spirit and the peace of God! We made the decision to go “early this morning,” before the gangs were out on the street! Thank you for your prayers!

Philemond and Oriol picked up the fresh tilapia fish at 5:00 a.m. When we arrived at the garbage dump at 6:30 a.m., the ladies were already “running” with their buckets to get in line! (We only give Food Cards to the mothers!) They all stood there peacefully, not pushing, and everyone was so hungry for food! And, to our surprise, the police showed up!!!

Farmer John was there, helping us distribute the fresh tilapia fish! We gave out white rice and “Feed My Starving Children” rice. We are so thankful for our Haitian workers… Casimi, Gaston, Philemond, Dieuferly, Carlos, and all of our local security. Oriol and Joel were there with us too.

Thank you for your prayers! We did not have one moment of trouble! Thank you for your support! What a joy to give food to the hungry.
