Dapper Dieubon

“Will the real ‘Dieubon’ please stand up?” Wow, is this really Dieubon, a.k.a. “Sponge Bob,” (the kids’ nickname for him)? Look at Dieubon all dressed up!!! Hmmm. Where is “he” going???

Dieubon is such a sweet, basically shy, guy. We first met him during a Mobile Clinic and noticed he had horrible clubfeet. Some friends of ours (Dr. Chester and Debbie, his wife) took him in and found surgery for him in Louisiana. Dieubon stayed in their home for about a year, then came back to Haiti. He had problems with spina bifida, which is why he is so short, but he doesn’t pay that any mind! He has a job with Love A Child, which helps to support his “birth family” of five children. Dieubon is up early at 4:00 a.m. and walks all over the property for exercise, and then, gets ready to work! He is never late, never complains, and always does a great job!!! He is the perfect employee!!! We love this kid! Bobby, of course, always teases him about a “girlfriend,” ha. Dieubon started school late and had a hard time in some classes. He is 23 and in 9th grade!! He now makes good grades in school and loves to study!

I asked the girls at our Love A Child children’s home, “what does Dieubon like to do?” They said, “he likes to count!” Count?? Yes! When he was small, he loved to count and still does! Maybe he does that to pass time? He is a “low-key” kid and never gives anyone trouble at all!!! But, I’ve got to find out where he was going “all dressed up” and smelling good!!! Ha! We love Dieubon! He is “non-replaceable!!!”

P.S. Dr. Chester and his wife loved Dieubon so much. Dr. Chester passed away a year and a half ago. We will miss him. He was so good to Dieubon!
