Ecclesiastes 3:2 “A time to plant; A time to harvest…”
This morning this passage brought me comfort, watching what is happening in our country, and as it says, there is a time for everything. “A time to plant and a time to harvest.” This is especially true for the workers, students, and graduates of our Agricultural Training Center (ATC) who have learned when to sow into the ground and harvest later.
Look at all of these green pepper plants that our agricultural staff started from tiny seeds donated to Haiti by Hope Seeds. These tiny seeds grew into the many pepper plants you see here being transplanted into the prepared ground to finish their growth and to be harvested eventually. Yesterday, Wilner and his staff planted more than 325 feet of these green peppers. These plants will soon be providing delicious, nutritious peppers for the 86 orphans and hundreds of staff at Love A Child.
We thank all the Hope Seeds donors and volunteers whose dedication and hard efforts ensure that hungry children and families are fed in Haiti and around the world. Hope Seeds donates seeds to Love A Child, as we are one of their “seed depots” for the country. As their seed depot, Love A Child, in turn, provides the seeds to many other projects around Haiti. The Hope Seeds donations give hope and encouragement, the message of Jesus, and season after season of good, nourishing food. We also use their seeds in our training classes and send each graduate home with enough Hope Seeds to start large community gardens. We will start our next 3-week “Sustainable Agriculture in Haiti” class as soon as we can get enough students registered.
If you have students to send or know of other organizations in Haiti that would like to send students to our important class, please contact our office in Fort Myers for more information on how to register them for our next “ATC school.”
Thank you to all the donors and supporters who make our development outreaches possible and for Hope Seeds for making the valuable seeds available where they are so needed. It will soon be “a time to harvest.”
