Daniel Burnette is nine years old. His nickname is Daniello! We found him during a Mobile Clinic in Old Letant. His father died when he was hit in the head with a block! After this, his mother died. The villagers tried to keep him alive, but they barely had enough food for themselves… so, we took him in.
Daniel has always been sweet, but very “different.” The teachers in our school have a hard time with him. Sometimes, he would just “get up and leave school!” They had tried everything! Now, he is getting better, even though he seems to have to some mental problems. However, he always responds to love. We are not sure how far he will be able to go in school… we pray that he will graduate, but if not, we will find a job that he likes doing. Each day, we try to spend time with him and find out what he likes and what he doesn’t like. One thing we know… he is “fearless!” We always tell him about Sampson, our Rottweiler. We tell him Sampson is “police,” and he is security! If Sampson has a ball in his mouth, “don’t try to take it away. I am the only one who can get the ball out of his mouth!” But, if he gets a chance, he will try to get that ball! Daniel is “fearless!” He is good a helper and he is a “one on one” child. He would prefer to be alone rather than with others… but, we have had other children like this, too.
We love Daniel. He is so sweet and when we take time with him or tell him “he has done a very good job,” he lights up!!! One thing we know, he would not be alive now, if we had not taken him in. We love Daniel!
