Colin was born into a family who centered their lives around Voodoo. Colin’s father was deeply involved in Voodoo. He was a hateful man. When Colin was very small his stepmother cooked big pots of rice for the family. When each child had a little, Colin would go back for the “rice scrapings.” His father grabbed his hand and said, “I’ll teach you what a thief is.” He held Colin’s hand down on the hot charcoals. He burned his hand very badly. When the neighbors called me, I went and got Colin. I bandaged up his hand, and we took him to the hospital. When he was released, I called the Department of Social Services to tell them what had happened, and they gave us custody of Colin. He is now 12 years old and in the 6th grade.

Colin has had quite a bit of dental problems, as his teeth “stuck straight out!” We have had a lot of dentist bills due to his teeth. No wonder the kids gave him the nickname of “dan,” which means “teeth!” No problem… they all have nicknames and think nothing of it! He loves to play soccer and basketball, and he is one of the best students in his class! Colin is “always working,” but his favorite thing to do is “eat!” Ha! He wants to be an engineer. Colin will be a success in life and go far, unless we run out of food! Ha! We love this kid!!!
