Word from the Mission Field

Making sure our foundation is strong.

“… But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble…” (1 Corinthians 3:10-12)

Our foundation must be Jesus Christ. Through the storms of this life our foundation will be firm, which is Jesus Christ. If we build a building and the foundation is not strong, the building will eventually not stand through the storms or earthquakes of time.

The builder that built our orphanage came to me and said that I should spend more money on the foundation. I thought he was just wanting to make more money. Sherry and I prayed about it. It would cost several thousand more. The Lord led us to make the foundation stronger. I remember the foundation was so deep that I could stand in it and my head would just barely come to the top. It was a deep, strong foundation.

The earthquake hit us in 2010, killing around 300,000 people and injuring thousands. I was upstairs in our orphan’s home when the earthquake hit. Sherry was in the village next door. The quake shook our house like paper! We didn’t even have a crack in our orphan’s home!! PTL!

Here is a picture of the Gabion house that we are building for the families that lost their house in the most recent earthquake. The foundation is strong, and the walls are two feet thick. When the next earthquake hits, the house will stand!

Let us make sure our foundation is strong in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
