Update from the Mission Field

Exodus 22:27 . . . for I am compassionate.

Read the full text of Exodus 22:27 and you’ll see a perfect fit for what happened in Anse-A-Veau yesterday. Because of the compassion of Love A Child partners like you, we were able to mount the fastest response to the latest series of earthquakes yesterday affecting the people of Haiti.

As you know from yesterday, there were more damaging earthquakes yesterday in the same region that was destroyed last August, with over nine hundred more families losing their homes, and even more lives lost.

The miracle is that we already had backup tents and food which had just been delivered to the area and our guy in the area, Hubert, was already distributing food in the desperate, ravaged area. Yesterday, Hubert was able to put up over twenty tents for families on the same day as they lost their homes! And the food our partners are providing was right there, available for meals that very day! It is a miracle that on the same day of the disaster, the need was met for many, even before nightfall. PTL! That is the fastest disaster response to a remote village in Haiti ever.

Being that the roads to get out there are blocked by armed gangs it will be days before other organizations will be able to make it out there to access the situation. Love A Child was prepared with human and physical resources for an immediate response team to meet the need the same day. Everyone was flooding into the streets, afraid to be inside their damaged and falling houses. Here are some pictures from yesterday showing collapsed houses, yet tents erected in a park for families to begin recovering.

Bobby and Sherry are having to manage this disaster response remotely, as they still do not have internet. They are busy yesterday and today mounting a larger response mission where they will go to the area soon to dispense even more aid and Christian compassion. Thank you for helping them right now with your important gifts of support and encouragement.
