It is a major thing in Haiti, for any child who comes from an orphanage, to get married! This is rare. But we are so blessed with good children, especially the boys, who get married!
Most young men get a girl pregnant and run off and leave her. So, the young men here, who have gotten married, are a good example to the others. George’s “sisters” are doing most of the work. Yesterday, lots of his “family” helped set up tents for the reception.
Today, all his “sisters,” were in the kitchen early making finger snacks for the reception. They call one of these finger foods, “conies.” They put the dough on cones and bake them and fill them. Or, maybe it was, “fill them and then, bake them?” Oh well…
Many of the girls, even the younger ones, jumped in to help. At the end of the morning, little Zoey was covered with flour and ready for a nap! Congratulations to George! He is a wonderful young man, and we love him.
