Men and Boys Dying of Starvation (WARNING: Graphic Photo)

(Warning: Graphic Photo)

For a few months now, the gangs in Haiti have blocked the road going to South Haiti. This is where we are building the special Gabion houses for the families who lost their homes in the earthquake. The people have been desperate for food in many areas of South Haiti. This picture was sent to me yesterday of a man and a young boy who died in prison from starvation in Petit Goave. I woke up this morning reading that 12 more just died of starvation in prison. I’m sure many poor are dying who have not been reported on. Our hearts go out to the families and especially the children in South Haiti.

We have Hubert, our Love A Child representative, checking on rice, beans, and cooking oil prices at a place in South Haiti that sells large quantities. Our goal this coming week is to purchase all the rice, beans, and cooking oil we can for the people and the jails and prison. Anyone who can help with the purchase of food I will be forever thankful. Jesus said, “when we do it unto the least of these little ones, you do it unto me.” Matthew 25:40

In all the years we have lived and worked in Haiti, I have never seen hunger this bad. I’m praying the international community cannot stand by and watch the gangs block the main road to the south where no one can receive food. Gangs are blocking the big fuel terminal so no one can receive fuel. Hospitals are closing due to the lack of fuel and gangs.

Please, someone, send help to stop these gangs from destroying Haiti and its beautiful people.
