“He’s still the God of the valleys…”
In 1st Kings 20, we see a great battle between Syria and Israel, and Israel won! The Syrians decided that Israel had won because “their gods are gods of the hills […] but let us fight against them in the plain (the valleys), and surely we shall be stronger than they.” (1 Kings 20:23)
The Israelites were actually “outnumbered.” They had fought and won once, but now the Syrians would attack again… God sent a man of God to the King of Israel to say, “Thus saith the Lord, Because the Syrians have said, The Lord is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the Lord!” (1 Kings 20:28)
It’s easy to serve God “on the mountain top!” It’s easy to serve God when everything is going well, but He is still the “the God of the valleys” when things are all against you!! He is God when your back is “against the wall!”
So, today, begin to praise the “God of the mountains and the God of the valleys!” He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever! Sherry
