Madamn Edna’s Story…

What would you do if you were a very poor and young mother in a gang-infested country like Haiti… and you were pregnant, and your husband just left you with two children and no income??? You have no food, and the rent is due…

Edna Mathelus is a 27-year-old mother. She just gave birth to her second child in our maternity ward. Here is her story…

It has been about 3 months since her husband abandoned her in a room they rented after numerous cases of abuse and domestic violence. She was 6 months pregnant. Since then, her only refuge and hope was here in our clinic, and it is one of the reasons that led her to think twice about her choice to have an abortion. Here she found food, medical care, free consultations, and very good medicine. Today she came to the maternity ward to give birth. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy who weighs 3.2 kg. However, this young mother has neither a job nor a fixed address. The rent will soon come to an end. What will she do? She has two children to educate in the future, to feed, and to dress. What is the future for this poor mother and her children?

Many other mothers find themselves in the same situation as Edna. Thank you for helping us give them existential support, even when we hope to give them rather substantial support. God bless you…

PS: God bless you, Jeanie, for the baby “one-sies” that say, “I’m a little Blessing,” and the carry sacks that say, “Your Child is Your Blessing.” These gifts bring great joy.
