“Where is Your Treasure?”
Living in Haiti among the poorest of the poor, is enough to make a grown man cry. Talking to the mothers, who work so hard, and hearing their stories is painful enough, but the “children…” the children break the heart of God.
I always thought that if the “rich in Haiti,” would just give a little of what they have, all the children and the poor, would have “something to eat,” every day. It is hard to separate the money of the rich to give to the poor. Jesus said, “Sell that ye have, and give alms (money for the poor); provide yourselves bags that which wax not old; a treasure in the Heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Luke 12:33-34
From the Old Testament until now, God has always had a plan for the poor never to be hungry. In the Old Testament, the people were commanded to save back part of their crops for the poor to come and glean. Now, Jesus is telling us to give “alms” (an offering), to help the poor. Cornelius was a centurion in the Italian band… He had great might and power, but, he gave “alms” to the poor. Jesus sent an angel to him, who said, “Thy prayers and thine alms, are come up for a memorial before God!” Acts 10:1-4
Never stop “giving to the poor.” You can never “outgive God,” and great blessings will be multiplied back to you!
