His mother named him Dieuferly; it means, “God made it!” He was just a baby in the arms of his mother when we had made the trip to… “Bel Fontaine,” one of the highest mountains in Haiti. We had come there to check on our school and conduct a Mobile Medical Clinic when we saw this poor mother with two sets of twins, “other children,” and a baby in her arms with “double clubfoot.”
We knew that this baby would never get surgery and would always remain a cripple, probably on his hands and knees in this mountainous village! We brought him home on one of our mules!
He had a series of “bad surgeries in Haiti” from “unqualified” doctors, which made his feet worse, with excruciating pain. But, as he grew older, Jesse Ostrander (who now works with us) found a great doctor in the Dominican Republic! Dieuferly has been able to walk well, thanks to the Lord and the doctors!
His passion has always been video, picture taking, and filming. He has learned a lot from watching others. Today, his picture-taking is excellent, and he does a lot more for us! He had a beautiful girlfriend who worked for us, telling stories of the lives that have been healed and helped through our Clinic, the Jesus Healing Center, and our Malnutrition Center. Her parents put her on the “Biden Plan” and had her leave Haiti. But, Dieuferly remained because he knew “his mom and dad needed him!” But we know that somehow, “love will find a way!” (smile)
We have loved Dieuferly from the day we brought him home, down the mountains, on a mule! Many of you who have been to Haiti, have met Dieuferly and know his heart!
God bless all of our friends and partners.
