“Had it not been for the Lord…”
How many times have you had the opportunity to say this…? “Had it not been for the Lord, we couldn’t have made our house payment; had it not been for the Lord, my child would have been killed; had it not been for the Lord, I would have died; had it not been for the Lord, I would have married the wrong man; had it not been for the Lord, I would have taken the wrong job…”
David said, “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they would have swallowed us up quick…” (Psalm 124:1-5) David is saying that had it not been for the Lord, he and his army would have “drowned” (been killed). The Lord has done so many things for us all that we often forget about all “His goodness” towards us. But I am sure that you can say with all your heart that “had it not been for the Lord, I would have died,” or “had it not been for the Lord, my enemies would have taken advantage of me,” etc.
Each morning we should be saying, “Lord, if it had not been for you…” We all have a testimony of what God has done for us. Someone you will meet today or tomorrow will need to hear that testimony. Have a great day! Sherry
