Baby Elka was examined by five doctors from Operacion Sonrisa (Operation Smile). The poor baby was ready for a nap when we were finally finished. She was screened by a nurse and then met with a pediatrician, an ear, nose, and throat doctor, a nutritionist, and two other doctors. They are determining if she is a candidate for surgery. Praise God she passed the initial screening.
The only question mark is her weight. Baby Elka just needs to fatten up a little bit. She will be screened again in a few weeks when the surgeons come to town. The next surgery date is October.
Dumolia and I are battling Santo Domingo traffic on our way to an MRI. She is experiencing pain from scarring on her chest. The doctors are trying to alleviate the pain. They are going to try to stretch the skin so that it is not so tight. But they need an MRI to develop a game plan.
When we left the apartment, Jackson was still hooked up to the dialysis machine. He will have to meet with the lead nephrologist this afternoon.
God is good and always faithful. Things are progressing here in Santo Domingo. Please lift up the medical team and the patients that are here in prayer.
