Today at 2:00 p.m. there will be 500 poor Haitian mothers receiving a bag of “meat and bones” from Farmer John’s meat shop here in Fond Parisien, Haiti! We have partnered with “Farmer John” here, to be able to give 500 bags of fresh cut “meat and bones,” to them to make a special soup for January 1st, called, “Soup Joumou!” Oh, they will love it!
Things have been so bad here in Haiti, that many poor Haitians cannot afford to buy the “meat and bones” to make this special soup! We have agreed to partner with Farmer John so that the poor could come today and get a bag of “fresh meat and bones,” to make this soup!
This soup celebrates Haiti’s liberation from French rule on January 1st, 1804. During those days of slavery, the poor Haitians had to “make the soup,” for the landowners, but they could not eat it! When Haitians eat the soup, they are reminded of their “freedom” in every bite! Be sure to see pictures later!!!
