This morning, we traveled to a very remote area of the mountains of Haiti called “Bwa Pen Chal.” It was named after a Haitian man who discovered the remote village. We wanted to take food to these parents and feed their children, but the mountain road had washed away!
However, Pastor Souffrance, a great man of God from the village of Peyi Pouri, got together with over 200 families and asked them to “make a road through the mountains” for Bobby and Sherry Burnette, and their workers. “If” they could make a road to the village, then the Love A Child team could bring food to the people, and also feed their hungry children!!!
The people from the mountains “put their hands to the plow,” and with hard work, “made a road in the middle of nowhere!” The only thing the people had to eat while working on the road was “bread dipped in sugar water!” They worked hard for two weeks, so that we could bring them the food that you, our partners, sponsored! This morning, we put our trucks into “four-wheel-drive,” and headed through the rough, rocky riverbed and on up the dangerous mountains! We arrived and distributed 200 boxes of Feed My Starving Children food. And then, we fed over 200 hungry children a hot, delicious meal of the same food! We were able to make it home “just before the rain came!” So, thank you, dear partners, for your kind hearts and for all your sacrifices that made today a great success! “Great is your reward in Heaven!!!
We love you!
Bobby and Sherry Burnette
P.S. If you look at these pictures of the thankful mothers, and the sweet little hungry children eating, you will know “why” we are still here in Haiti, “on the front lines!”
