ATC Work Continues

As you probably know, life in Haiti has been totally disrupted for the past few years because of the violent terrorist gangs that are now in control of daily life in Haiti. But through our strong faith in our God of protection, most daily operations continue as normal, at Love A Child.

Focusing on their daily chores of maintaining all the productive vegetable gardens and fruit nurseries at Love A Child, the ATC (Agricultural Training Center) staff are gladly staying busy keeping their attention on their gardens. This past week, Wilner and his team of skilled gardeners got a lot of work done: preparing new soil for new succession plantings in the shade houses, tending to the newly planted coconut trees, large daily harvests of fresh vegetables for all the kitchens at Love A Child, maintaining the chickens and goats which are now part of the demonstration and training programs at the ATC, hand watering for the many plants, replenishing the important mulch in the gardens and making more compost (free organic fertilizer). This important work helps the guys keep their minds off the troubles posed by the gangs and lets them focus on their important role of providing fresh, nutritious food for the children and workers at Love A child.

We could not have these successful gardens without the continued help and support of many of our donors and for the wonderful seeds donated by Dave Balsbaugh of Hope Seeds International and the necessary shade house provided by Joe Perkins and Ron Lusk of Sustainable Food Production. Thank you, for blessing so many Haitian people through your interest and support in our ATC.
