Years ago, we saw a father bring his little son to our Mobile Medical Clinic in the mountains of Covant, Haiti. He was so swollen and “looked fat,” but he was full of water! Thinking he was about three, I asked his father the baby’s age. I was shocked when I found out how old he was… he was seven! He was so swollen, it was hard to believe he was that old!
We took him on the “seven-hour trip” back down the mountain! We put him in the hospital until he was well. But when Mackenson was in fourth grade, he had a stroke! He had to go through so much. Today, Mackenson is in junior high and wants to be a geography teacher! We know he will be a good one!
