When the gangs mounted a large attack on this area a couple weeks ago, they ransacked Pastor Claude’s compound. He is our dear friend and neighbor. His orphanage children and workers escaped. They took refuge in the surrounding area and mountains as shots rang out. While a major gun battle was taking place on the main road, gang members occupied his property and set fire to all the buildings. It was a miracle none of the children or staff were harmed. They made it out just in time.
We went back today to see if there was anything that we could salvage. I was saddened by the large empty buildings and eerily quiet compound. A couple short weeks ago it was teaming with life, with kids. My heart breaks for these people.
We cry out to God for help in this chaotic situation. We know He is faithful. He is our strength, our only refuge.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
