One day, a poor woman, pregnant, decided she did not want another baby. When she began to deliver, she went to a Haitian outhouse, sat down, and dropped her baby down the hole. I cannot think of anything more appalling or disgusting. She left as soon as she could, but the baby kept crying. An old man, passing by, heard the whimpering and got a rope to tie around his waist. The neighborhood men let him down inside that filthy outhouse, covered with roaches and feces. He brought up a “baby in a bucket.” The ladies in the village washed him and sent him to the Social Services Department. They sent him to the hospital for two weeks and when he was released, they asked if we could take him in.
We did. We called him “Moses.” He grew up and is so intelligent! Today, he is 15 years old and in 7th grade. He used to want to be “President of Haiti,” but due to the political problems, he has decided he might live longer if he is a doctor instead of a president. Good thinking, Moses!
We love this guy!!! He is intelligent, and sometimes thinks he is bigger than he is, but Madamn Sherry is here to keep him humble and remind him that he is Moses, and God has chosen him for something special! Sherry
