Every time Kim and I bring candy to Haiti, I somehow become the most popular person on the compound. Word spreads through the orphanage faster than the internet, and before long, there is a steady stream of children stopping by the house on their way to school.
These kids seem to be convinced that a little sugar in the morning helps with math, reading, and spelling!
Thankfully, our orphans never go hungry. But many of the children who attend school in Haiti arrive with empty stomachs. That’s why one of the greatest blessings of the Love A Child schools is that every student receives a hot meal every day. For some children, it is the only meal they will have all day.
It’s hard to learn when you’re hungry. A full stomach helps make a full classroom, and a full classroom helps build a brighter future.
Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your financial support. Because of your generosity, these children are not only receiving an education, they are doing it with food in their bellies, hope in their hearts, and smiles on their faces.
And yes… occasionally a piece of candy in their pockets.
