Carlos was about a year old when we met him and his mother, Jan. She said they had been “sleeping on the streets.” They apparently had not been able to pay rent and Jan had no husband to help. We, at first, began giving them food each day, but felt it would be better to take her and Carlos in and give Jan a job. That’s what happened… Carlos, a once skinny little toddler, is now a young man, and “a big, tall young man.”
He spent a few years in the Dominican Republic but really missed all his “brothers and sisters” at the Love A Child Children’s Home. He is taller and more muscular now. He had begun to operate “heavy-duty equipment” when he was about twelve… he does an incredible job and he is “good at it!” Carlos is 23 and serving the Lord. He has the “sweetest and kindest” spirit and we are so glad that we met his mother at our gate, 22 years ago. We love Carlos so, so much!!! He is a “gentle giant.”
