“When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.” Deuteronomy 24:19
The gardens at Love A Child purposefully yield a bountiful harvest for the orphanage. These agricultural workers are always so proud to bring their harvests to the kitchens at Love A Child. Here are buckets of leeks and stalks of delicious plantains. Joy comes when “God blesses us in all the work of our hands.” Some years back, Bobby and Sherry wanted to be sure that we left a legacy of self-sustainability to the poor and struggling Haitian people so we began our sustainability outreaches, to develop gardening skills and to promote businesses, such as the Marketplace, Farmer John’s slaughterhouse and restaurant, and Poul Mirak. Because of the dedicated support of our donors, our sustainability programs are helping Haitians to learn to help themselves through learning new skills, new business practices, and creating new employment. Thank you for caring and sharing. You are allowing a great harvest for the Lord.
