We just returned to Haiti from the States. Kaeli traveled with me to visit Alvin Jonsley and his mother. As you may remember, Alvin had a cancerous tumor that was growing behind his eye, pushing it out of the socket. The 14-year-old had been an excellent student, despite this painful eye problem. She took what little money she had and went from doctor to doctor –  with no hope. Then one day, the Lord spoke to her and told her to go to Love A Child in Fond Parisien. That’s where God began to do a miracle. We found a doctor and hospital in the States that would donate the surgery and hospital care. Alvin had a huge operation behind his right eye to remove the tumor, but they could not remove all of it because it would affect the sight of his other eye. They began using chemotherapy, and there is another year of this in an effort to stop the cancer, which is now in his neck and going down his spine. Kaeli and I flew to the States last weekend to visit them. His mother has such “great unstoppable faith in God,” and so does Alvin!
