I love reading about the great men and women of God who had the massive healing crusades in the 1930’s through the 1970’s. One of them was Kathryn Kuhlman. She began her early ministry struggling, like so many, but eventually, her healing ministry grew… especially in the 1970’s.
In her book, she tells about her father dying. She was the “favorite of her father” when she was a little girl. But as her ministry was growing, she could not see her father very much. One day she received a phone call that her father was dying… he had been hit by a car. She drove through blizzards through several states to try to make it home to see him “one last time.” But alas, he died before she could get there. She found herself standing in front of his coffin, the one she had loved more than anyone else… the one she had always sat on his lap, hugging him and not wanting to let him go. Now, he was gone…
She remembered her last conversation with him… “Kathryn, do you remember how you used to snuggle your head on my shoulder and say, ‘Papa, give me a nickel?'” She nodded. Her father continued, “Because it was what you asked you asked for. But baby, you could have asked me for my last dollar and I would have given it to you.”
We pray and ask “our Heavenly Father” to “meet our need,” but He is a God of “more than enough.” His answer back to you is, “My child, that’s what you asked for, but you could have asked me for my last dollar and I would have given it to you…” Don’t be afraid to ask God for “more than enough!” – II Kings 13:14-18
