Back to School Shopping

Wow! We dread each July and August here in Haiti! Our children here at Love A Child Children’s Home are getting ready to go back to school in a few months. We have “a lot of kids,” and there are no “Walmarts” here so… we have to buy black shoes on the street. This is Kitley, one of our laundry ladies, and Madamn Laguerre. I gave them the equivalent of $555.50 U.S. and they bought these used shoes on the streets, but, they are not finished. They still have to buy for 13 more children. They also have to buy hair ribbons, socks, underwear, and books!

Just think, one of these pairs of black used shoes for the teenage boys were the equivalent of about $44 U.S., not to mention, “two school uniforms each!” Due to the ratio of the Haitian gourdes to the U.S. dollar, everything is so high, especially food!

We wish to thank all of our partners who help, by sponsoring a child! Without your help, this would not be possible!! Thank you!
