So many Christians do not understand the power of a “sacrificial blessing!” 1 Kings 17:8-15 is one of the most amazing stories in the Bible. There is famine in the land. In fact, God had to send out a raven each day to bring Elijah, God’s servant, food. The raven brought him bread and flesh (meat) in the morning and evening. When the “brook dried up,” there was nothing the raven could find. God had to send His prophet Elijah to a poor widow, who was on the brink of death and starvation, both she and her son. She only had a “handful of meals” that she was going to cook for her and her son… “and then, she and her son would eat their last cake and die!”
Elijah ends up at her house, and he says, “Bake me a cake first!” You and I would be horrified at the sound of this! But Elijah was being led by the Lord… God was testing the widow because He wanted to bless her! You know her story… her oil and barrel of meals were multiplied until God sent the rain! Next time, when the Holy Spirit speaks to you to sacrifice, remember that behind the “Sacrifice is a Blessing!” It’s gonna be a good day!
