Miracles of beans, rice, cooking oil, and “new clothing” came to the poor who live in the villages of “Po Plume” and “Po Glase,” Haiti! It was tough getting nearly three and a half tons of food loaded into Haitian boats and across the lake! Many of these Haitian families had been kicked out of their homes by the gangs, or were hiding from them. They fled to these villages by the lake. There are no schools or any type of buildings here… mostly, just tin on top of poles and mud huts.
We had not been able to bring in the “Feed My Starving Children rice,” due to gangs at the port in Haiti, and due to the border of the Dominican Republic being closed! So, we bought a whole container of black beans from North Dakota when we had problems with both ports. A few days ago, we bought two and a half tons of rice and packaged them up, along with the beans and cooking oil for these two villages. We also had “new clothing,” that had been donated, many with the “tags” still on them! We bagged up the clothing and loaded everything in a big Haitian boat and we followed in smaller boats!
When we arrived, we passed out the clothing bags, the beans, rice, and cooking oil! The mothers were so thankful! Then, we cooked hot food for the children! Everyone was “thanking God!” The mothers were jumping up and down when they opened the sacks and some were even “smelling the newness of the clothing!”
Jesus said, “That when you make a feast, call the poor.” We only wished that “you,” our partners, had been there! You have made a great impact on the lives of the poor here in Haiti! “Great, is your reward!”
