Boys Can Cook, Too!

Boys Can Cook, Too!

You may think that “cooking,” or “making a food dish,” is just “girl stuff!” But in Haiti, that’s not true, especially at our “Love A Child Orphanage!” The lady that you see “rolling out the dough” is Widlene! She and her sister were raised here at our “Love A Child Orphanage!” Widlene went to college here in Haiti to become a “professional cook!” She not only makes “cakes and items to sell,” but she loves teaching our young girls and boys how to cook! And, you may think that these little boys would rather be outside playing soccer or football, but our orphanage boys “love to cook!” (That’s because they love to eat! Ha!!!)

Here you can see some of our younger boys, like Noah, Joshua, and others, “concentrating on what Widlene” told them to do! You can see that these little boys are very serious about the jobs that Widelene has given them! They are learning to make cakes, bread, and all sorts of Haitian delights! Zoey, the one with her hand on her hip, is watching carefully that the boys do exactly what Widelene told them to do!

We have raised many children, and I have never had to “scold” a child for “acting rudely.” The children get along so well. They have never thought of being raised in an orphanage; they just consider that they “have a big family,” and kids do things together… go to church, and obey everyone. We have very few problems, as long as we keep them cooking! Ha!!

We know this huge orphanage could not exist without the help of partners like you!! We love you.
