We brought him into our orphanage when he was very young. He had been living with his father, who was cruel to his children. He had fixed food for his kids, and when Colin tried to get a little more, his father “held his hand on the hot grill” to teach him a lesson! Colin’s hand was severely burned!
I was furious! I contacted someone here in Haiti who was in charge of cases like this, and they asked us to “keep the child” if possible, because his father might do worse things to Colin and the other children. Colin has been with us for years and is doing good! He is now 16, he loves soccer, where he is a “goalie,” and wants to be an engineer! He is in 10th grade here at our High School! He will be a great success in life.
