“Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day; teach him to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime.”
What a wonderful proverb that is, and how true. Here in Haiti, we realize that “food right now” will keep children and families from starving, but with our Agricultural Training Center, we “teach farmers how to grow crops, even in poor soil and with little rainfall.” They know nothing about “crop rotation,” or how to make composts using things they have leftover. That’s why it is so important to do both… “Feed them now, when they are hungry,” but give them something to sustain them in the future.
A job is the most important thing in the life of any Haitian… We have “hundreds” of Haitians employed at Love A Child in Fond Parisien. And our 18 Christian schools provide jobs for many, many teachers and cooks. Employing poor Haitians, giving them a job, and sharing Jesus with them is the joy of our lives! Thank you, partners!
