Creole Proverbs come from the ancestors of Haiti, the older generation, who were full of wisdom and knowledge… One proverb in Creole says, “If you don’t know where ‘you came from,’ you will never know where you are going.” We always remind our orphan children to remember where they came from, one was dropped in an outhouse to die when his mother gave birth; one was abandoned by her father at age 5 months because her mother had HIV; two children had their hands badly burned by their fathers; and most of the rest would have died, if it had not been for the Lord.
