The village of Despezio is a very “unusual village.” They have many superstitions, and fear often “lays down beside them at night.” When we come in, we come in with the love of God! These are the people we must feed when they are hungry because this shows that the Lord loves them!!! We love these people and all the people of the villages where we work!!! Just look at their faces, and you will see how happy they are for this food.

Some villages in Haiti are ‘easy’ to work with, and some, you must be patient with in order to show the love of God! One of those areas is Despezio. There was a well-known witch doctor here in this village a few years, not sure if he still lives there. This witch-doctor had “great power,” and many people were afraid of him.

We were coming in, bringing food, and conducting Mobile Medical Clinics in this village. Once, when we were there, one of our great evangelists, Fre Dodo, had the opportunity to preach the gospel to that man! No, he did not accept the Lord at that time, but he can never say that “he never heard the gospel!!” Some plant, some water, but God gives the increase! Food is a course that opens the door to the gospel. God has given us favor in this village.
